Frequently Asked Questions
What kinds of concerns do you help people with?
I work with adults who are navigating grief, trauma, relationship challenges, anxiety, identity questions, life transitions, loneliness, and the lasting effects of childhood experiences. Many of my clients feel disconnected from themselves or others, find themselves repeating painful relationship patterns, or are searching for a deeper understanding of why they feel the way they do.
What is relational psychodynamic therapy?
Relational psychodynamic therapy explores how your past relationships and life experiences influence your current emotions, relationships, and sense of self. Rather than only addressing symptoms, we work together to understand the underlying patterns that shape your life so that meaningful, lasting change becomes possible.
What is somatic therapy?
Somatic therapy recognizes that our experiences are held not only in our minds but also in our bodies. We pay attention to physical sensations, nervous system responses, and body awareness to help reduce stress, process trauma, and build greater emotional resilience.
What is Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an evidence-informed approach that views the mind as made up of different "parts," each with its own perspective and purpose. Together, we explore these parts with curiosity and compassion so they can work together in healthier ways, helping you feel more integrated and less overwhelmed.
Can therapy help with grief?
Yes. Grief affects every person differently and often extends beyond the loss of a loved one. People also grieve the end of relationships, changes in identity, health concerns, life transitions, and unrealized hopes. Therapy offers a supportive space to process loss, honor what matters to you, and gradually move forward while carrying your experiences with greater compassion.
How can therapy help with relationship patterns?
Many relationship struggles develop from attachment experiences, family dynamics, and beliefs formed early in life. Therapy helps you recognize these patterns, understand where they come from, and develop healthier ways of connecting with yourself and others.
What are attachment wounds?
Attachment wounds are emotional injuries that develop when important relationships feel inconsistent, unsafe, or emotionally unavailable. These experiences can affect trust, intimacy, boundaries, self-worth, and emotional regulation well into adulthood. Therapy can help you understand these patterns and create more secure ways of relating.
What is psychedelic integration therapy?
Psychedelic integration therapy helps individuals make sense of insights and emotions that emerge from legally obtained psychedelic experiences. Integration focuses on applying those insights to everyday life in a grounded, thoughtful, and sustainable way. I do not provide or facilitate psychedelic substances.
Can therapy help if I don't have a specific diagnosis?
Absolutely. Many people begin therapy because they feel stuck, disconnected, overwhelmed, or uncertain rather than because they have a formal mental health diagnosis. Therapy can support self-understanding, emotional growth, and greater clarity regardless of whether you identify with a specific diagnosis.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. If you're feeling emotionally overwhelmed, repeating patterns that no longer serve you, struggling in relationships, grieving a loss, or simply wanting a deeper understanding of yourself, therapy may be a helpful next step.
What happens during the first therapy session?
Our first session is an opportunity to get to know each other. We'll talk about what's bringing you to therapy, explore your goals, discuss your history, and answer any questions you have about the therapeutic process. Together, we'll begin creating a plan that feels supportive and aligned with your needs.
How long does therapy usually take?
The length of therapy depends on your goals, your history, and the concerns you're bringing. Some clients seek support for a specific life transition, while others choose longer-term therapy to deepen self-awareness, heal longstanding patterns, and create lasting change.
Do you offer online therapy?
Yes. I offer secure telehealth therapy for adults throughout Washington State, allowing you to access therapy from the privacy and comfort of your own space.
What makes your approach different?
My approach integrates relational psychodynamic therapy, somatic therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) while emphasizing curiosity, compassion, and authentic connection. Rather than focusing only on symptom reduction, I help clients understand the deeper emotional and relational patterns shaping their lives so they can experience lasting healing and meaningful change.
